is a stock I’ve been having a lot of fun trading lately, and it showed up as a perfect gap trade lately. Let me explain.

What’s a Gap?

A gap is created on a chart, when a stock moves massively after hours. It generally shows up on a daily chart, but it can also show up on a weekly chart if that jump happens over the weekend when the market is closed.

If you look at the EOSE chart below, you can see that gap. I’ve taken off all the indicators to make it show better.

Why is the Gap Important?

Let’s add the volume back onto the chart so I can show you.

The bars on the right indicate volume at the price point. As you can see, there is a massive gap not only in the candles, but also the volume.

As such, the reason these gaps are important is that usually if the price point gets into them, there’s no resistance or support and they move through that gap very quickly.

Lots of traders only trade gaps because they work so well. Moreover, they’re really obvious and easy to find.

EOSE flew through the gap quickly. It teetered on the gap in late April, then dropped. It finally broke into the gap on Friday May 8th when it around $7.95. Wednesday May 13 the gap had filled by open at almost $10.

Those who were trading the gap fill would have likely made a nice 12-15% profit in just a couple days.

Gaps Form New Resistance/Support

A thing I think a lot of people miss is that the top/bottom of gap fills create new resistance/support.

Generally, when that gap is filled it can bounce off of it, unless there’s enough momentum to break a long way.

This exactly happened with EOSE.

As soon as the gap filled, traders dumped the stock bringing the price back down. Literally the same day that the gap filled, it dropped all the way back down to $8. Then at the start of June, it tried to break that gap-resistance a second time and was again rejected.

Since that rejection, the price has dropped all the way down to $6.75.

It’s now about to face a test of support at this level where you see the big white line (the point of control). From there, if it bounces up it may again try to break that resistance. But, for now we have to take a wait and see approach.

What Does This Mean for Us?

Well, honestly not a whole lot.

I don’t trade gap fills usually, I prefer to trade swings. However, when selling puts on the wheel strategy you can still trade these gaps. When the price is sitting under a gap, you sell a put even lower. Then you also set a limit-buy on that same put at 50% of the value. If the price jumps, the put will close and you’ll keep half of the premium.

It’s a fun little trade.

And in general, this chart could not have played out better for a lesson on gap fills!

Well, on Friday a lot of the market came crashing down, and even though I was prepared for it, I still got smoked a little.

A Week in Review

The below chart is the index from the past 4 months. It tells a really important story.

The story is, we’re at the very least pausing the rally for a bit.

There are all sorts of indicators that show, 1) the market was overbought, and 2) it was a pretty weak rally to begin with.

If you look at the bottom of the chart, each of those green and red lines indicate the volume traded that day. There are 2 important things here. First of all, back when the rally started, volume died. We didn’t see any good volume until, well, the crash on Friday.

This indicates that the rally was weak, and it’s why the rally crashed off so hard.

Also, we cleared out of the channel we’d been in since 2022. There was bearish divergence on the RSI as well. We were way overbought and the momentum was weak. It was bound to crash down.

Space X

There was another catalyst, in my opinion, for the crash.

Next week, Space X will have it’s IPO. It’s essentially hoping for a 1.75 trillion dollar market cap. That’s a massive amount of liquidity. Bitcoin crashed to 60,000 as well. For me, it seems like some players are moving cash off the board to be able to play into the Space X IPO.

I mean, is it a coincidence that about 1.75 trillion fell off the board of the stock market on Friday?

Ok, My Week in Trades

Seeing this coming, I was very cash heavy and decided not to take any trades this week.

But, as a result of Friday’s crash I did end up having some stocks sell on their stop loses - although all for profits.

• - I was stopped out at $215.

• - I was stopped out at $24.5. Sold my 4 shares.

• $SFTBY - I was stopped out here as well at $22.71. Sold my remaining 5 shares.

All of the above trades had stop losses in profit. So they were wins.

Profit / Loss / Cash

Despite being very cautious with the market I still had a bit of big loss this week.

I was down 5.18%, which is almost exactly the same as the was down. So I actually take that as a win.

I know a lot of accounts that were down 10-12% this week, so I feel like this is a bit of a victory. Especially with stocks like being down 20% on the week.

As a result, I basically have no open positions.

I have equity in , $davv, , , , , , and .

And I have put sale positions in , , and .

Our liquidation price is $3,789 and $2,500 of that is in cash.

So, What’s the Play?

First of all, I don’t like the volume at which the market came down on Friday. I also don’t like that it kept dropping after hours. The QQQ still has an RSI on the weekly charts at 65+.

So while I see some relief from the rally, I’m not quite sure I feel confident in spending money yet. I do want to see where things open on Monday.

That said, I’ll be looking to slowly enter the market again by selling a couple puts.

There are a couple stocks I’m hoping to sell puts on this week including , , and . I will likely just step into the market with a put sale on one of these, and then dip a bit more if the market comes down some more.

Lots of Cash - Let the Fun Begin

I’m feeling kind of proud of myself for the patience. It would have been really easy to chase the past couple weeks.

But while I have a lot of cash, it still really doesn’t feel smart to deploy it so quickly.

The is at $700. The following support levels I see are:

• Fib Channel 0.5 is about $650

• Trendline is about $645

• Volume is at about $625

Therefore, I feel like this could keep dropping to around about the $650 level. If it reaches there, I’ll likely start deploying cash and buying equity rather than just selling puts.

But until then, more patience.

I’m trying to simultaneously ride the way, while being cautious.

With cash on the side lines, somehow we were still up big this week.

Gains / Losses

The good news is my girlfriend was able to add $500 in cash to the account this week. The better news is that we had a massive 8% gain on the week.

So, we’re back up over $4,000.

That said, this market is scaring me a lot. I mean, we’re basically about to be parabolic.

On the weekly chart, the has a whopping RSI of 77. With an RSI over 70, I try to be at least 50% cash and limit my put selling positions. It’s just too risky. Moreover, the VIX index is sub-16. It really doesn’t make sense to be selling puts at these levels.

Trades for the Week

More than anything, I freed up cash and tightened stop losses this week.

I don’t want to not ride the wave, but I also do want to make sure I don’t blow everything up. So on lots of my equity positions, I brought the stop losses up.

Now all that said, I did do some work:

• I rolled my May29 $20.5 put to a June 12 $20 put. I earned $20 rolling it.

• I sold 5 shares of $sftby for $24.50 to trim that position a bit.

• I sold a $2.5 June 18 put thinking it would bounce a bit because of the SpaceX IPO. I should have bought leaps instead because it’s already jumped over 100% on the week. The LEAPS would have been a massive profit.

• I bought back my $5 put for June 18. I paid $5

• My 2 puts expired worthless.

So all in all, I only made $15 selling options this week. But in this market that’s totally fine.

Cash Balance?

My girlfriend’s total account size is $4,007.

We have $1,930 in total cash.

I really don’t think I’ll be deploying any of that cash at all unless the VIX index gets back above 20. The options premiums are just too soft, and the market is just too hot.

I’m really hoping that as we move into summer there’s some lower volume on the market that leads to greater volatility, because if I’m being honest, despite making 8% gains this week, I’m worried that my upside is going to flatline here unless we get a correction of some sorts.

Plan for Next Week?

Honestly? Nothing.

I’m not going to trade anything at all next week unless something major happens. I may even start trimming a bit more. I feel like my and positions can both be trimmed a bit.

So yeah, boring week. But I’m definitely not complaining about 8% gains!

If you’ve ever travelled with me as on one of my photography trips, or followed my YouTube, you’d know that. But I also think I’m pretty realistic in my expectations. When leading photography tours, I follow the idea of “under-promise and over-deliver”. In doing so, fewer people are disappointed, and more people are happy with the product.

It’s almost the same with the stock market. When the market is hot, it’s very easy to have massive expectations for gains. But, when it crashes, you can be left massively disappointed.

So, I am trying to manage my expectation.

On today’s post, I’m going to talk about why the market scares me, and maybe why it shouldn’t.

The QQQ is HOT!

Below is a screengrab of the chart. As I mostly trade in tech, this is really the only index I ever look at. I don’t look at SPY, DOW, Russell, or anything else. Well, actually, I also follow the $VIX which is one of my “buy triggers”. But, in general, the QQQ is the main thing I’m tracking.

The blue channel is where the stock market has played ever since we started this bull cycle back in 2022. That means, for 4 years the stock market has traded in this zone. And to be fair, it has mostly traded in the top half of this channel.

For me, I’ve started buying any time the market gets close to the middle line. I buy hard any time it gets close to bottom channel. I trim positions anytime we get too close to the top line.

But what happened yesterday is something that hasn’t happened in 4 years. We broke the top of the channel:

Will the Market go Parabolic?

Outside of news events, the market follows a very basic trend of support and resistance. How you determine those areas of support and resistance depends on your methodology. Some use Fib levels, others trendlines, patterns, volume levels, etc.

Regardless, each of these levels DO work because such a large number of people follow them. So you have to be aware of them all.

Oh, and for those who don’t know:

• Support: is a level in the market in which dropping price action will start to slow or bounce back. Think of it like a trampoline.

• Resistance: is the opposite. It’s a level in the market in which the rising price will start to slow, or even bounce back. Think of it like a ceiling.

Both resistance and support can be broken, and when that happens the move is often violent.

Imagine, you jump on top of a table, and your weight is too much and you break through. You’ll slow down, then fall really fast until you thump into the floor.

Likewise, when resistance is broken, it can take off like a rocket with nothing else to stop it.

Often times, when a market breaks the resistant is goes parabolic. There is no longer any resistance above it, so it flies. A parabolic market in general is rare, and in my opinion is extremely dangerous to traders.

So what does this all mean?

Is this a Market Fake Out?

Below is the weekly chart of the QQQ index and there are a couple of things that concern me.

With support or resistance it usually takes something violent that breaks it. Think of it like a glass floor or a glass ceiling. If you tap it, it will be ok, it you hit it hard, it will shatter. Usually that breakout move is confirmed with volume. And if there is no volume, it can often mean a fake out.

So with yesterday’s “breakout” it would have been good to see some volume confirming it. But if you look at the above chart. The volume is actually still declining. Moreover if you look at the bigger picture, the volume has been bad for a little while.

The other thing that is concerning is it looks like there’s bearish divergence starting to form.

This is where the price action doesn’t support the momentum.

The momentum as defined by the RSI levels seems to be dropping as you can see below:

But at the same time, the price action is trending upwards, as you can see in the chart below:

Is a Crash Coming?

Now, that’s concerning.

But it doesn’t necessarily mean that a crash is imminent. In fact, history doesn’t even show that it’s likely.

During the current bull market there have been 3 other cases of bearish divergence on the 1 day chart. In exactly 0 of those times, the market even corrected directly afterwards.

However, on the weekly chart, the bearish divergence did end in the huge correction back in March 2025.

Historically, the bearish divergence hasn’t been a great indicator of crashes on the charts.

THAT SAID…

Bearish divergence did call the exact top of the dot com bubble on the weekly chart.

But it also showed at the very start of the run. And if you would have sold off on that first bearish divergence, you would have missed out on a run of about $50-$120!

Will History Repeat itself?

I love the above chart, because I think it seems to tie in really well with now.

The top end of the channel broke with very little momentum - I feel that’s the exact spot where in now. At that point in the dot com bull market, the price moved from about $80-120. Which means that we might still have a lot of room to move up.

During that move to $120, the market started to see some violent moves, but that top of the old channel worked like new support. In fact, in the run up to the crash, it worked as active support 4 different times.

Then, the market crashed.

But here’s the crazy part: the market never lost it’s bull market, it just went back into the original channel!

That support held 3 different weeks in 2000.

It wasn’t actually until the old channel broke down in support at the end of the above chart that the bear market began.

So while the “crash” of the market happened in March/April 2000. The actual bear market didn’t start until about September 2000.

Biggest Sign the Bear Market has started?

I love looking at the volume to confirm things.

The below chart makes things look really obvious in hindsight. But I don’t think they had Tradingview charts back in 2000.

The volume tells almost all the story.

Look at the bounce after the initial “crash”. The volume is declining while the price is rising. That means that there are fewer buyers. Eventually, they’ll get exhausted and the sellers will take over.

When the price has now dropped, you can start to find the end of the bear market when the opposite happens. The volume is rising, but the price is dropping. That’s usually a sign that buyers are stepping back in.

It’s really interested if you look at volume on the lower level in the end stage of the bear market where there’s the little jumps that aren’t supported at all with volume. And eventually the trend resumes.

It’s only when the big amount of volume comes at the end is the trend reversal confirmed.

How Do We Proceed?

What’s the oldest trading advice in history?

Buy low, sell high.

So why on earth would you be buying during the top of one of the biggest bull cycles in history?

Well, greed.

So the goal moving forward is patience.

The dot com bubble was one of the greatest redistributions of wealth in history. Lots of people got rich during the rise. Lots of people went broke during the crash. But those who were buying up the broken down market in 2002 have made insane gains since then.

If you bought the QQQ index in 2002 at $21-ish, you would have earned:

• $33.50 in dividends.

• $710 in gains.

A massive 3,400+% gain.

If you bought 100 shares for $2,100, you’d have $74,000.

If you bought 1,000 shares for $21,000 you’d have $740,000

If you put in $100 a week every week since 2002, you’d have… wait for it:

$21 Million Dollars

And the crazy part is that doesn’t even include the dividends.

The average dividend per share has been $1 per share annually since 2002. So if you’re re-investing that, you’re number is likely way higher than $21,000,000. Or if you’re living off your dividends, in 2025, you likely took out over $80,000 in dividends.

And honestly, reading this stuff to myself makes me a bit mad.

I graduated high school in 2002. If I would have added that $100 each week and forgot about it, I could retire already - not that I want to. And, not that I could, back then buying a single share of the would have cost about $15 in trading commission. One of the reasons (in my opinion) the market is so high these days is greater access - but that’s a story for another day.

So How do We Navigate This?

Honestly, there’s nothing you can do but be cautious.

Keep lots of cash on the side lines. And if the market starts to drop, instead of running away from it, slowly drip it into the market.

Most bear markets last about a year. So instead of looking at is as “I’m losing money” look at it like: I’m getting to buy at a discount.

If you would have put $100 in to the QQQ index every week from the peak of the Dot Com Bubble in March 2000 to the bottom in October 2002, you would have an average of about $50 per share. Moreover, in those 150-ish weeks you’d have accumulated about 300 shares.

Even if you didn’t invest from that point until now, that $15,000 investment would be worth about $220,000.

If you start the math from above, and keep adding $100 a week since October 2002, but you are now starting with 300 shares (worth $6,300 and currently at a loss of $8,700, yikes), in the current day you’d have a massive…

$29 Million!

Yeah, it’s an 8 million dollar gain on waiting for the bottom, even though you were underwater for about 4 years.

Now, the over-confident will tell you, “but if you just saved that $15,000 instead of adding it to the index, and then bought the bottom, you’d have 40 million!!”

Yeah, that’s true.

But timing the bottom in hindsight is very easy. In reality it’s much harder. I mean, how do we know if the bear market will last 6 months, or 2 years?

And I guess my point isn’t “don’t try to time the bottom” rather it’s, “don’t be scared of bear markets. Bear markets lead to generational wealth if you don’t get blown up on the way down.

So Again, How Will I Navigate This?

As long as the market is above the channel I shared below, I’ll only be selling puts, and likely only on days that the market is down. I won’t likely be taking on any other equity positions.

I’ll be using options sales to build a bigger and bigger cash position.

Then, if the market decides to dip - or fully crash, I’ll have cash on the side lines to slowly drip into it.

Though we’re making great money in this bull market, it’s the end of the bear markets where generational wealth starts to be made.

As such, I’m not scared of a bear market, I’m kind of looking forward to one.

In investing, the goal is to compound your way to wealth. If we look at an average of 30% gains in a year.

1. First year $3000 becomes $3,900

2. $3,900 becomes $5,070

3. becomes $6,591

4. $8,568

5. $11,138

6. $14,480

7. $18.824

8. $24,471

9. $31,813

10. $41,357

Basically, in 10 years, you’re gaining $10,000 a year.

This gets even more impressive if you’re able to add to it. Imagine, you now have $100 a month that you can add to your investments. So, $1,200 a year.

This is what that would look like.

In the same amount of time, we’re now making $22,000 per year. If you do the same math, but add $500 a month it goes crazy.

By year 10, you have nearly $300,000. You’d be profiting about $73,000 a year. And that’s conservative, since in my math I’m just adding the $6000 at the end of year instead of monthly.

The “Poor People” Problem

The poor people problem is that, well, we can’t always save all the money. Life happens.

This past month, we needed to withdraw $1000 from to take care of some personal health items.

This happens to normal people. They have emergencies. Their houses spring a leak, their car needs to be fixed, they break a tooth, the break their ACL as I did this year. They need to dip into those savings. They need to dip into their gains.

In the past 3 months I’m up 60% with MyGFsMoney. It’s a crazy run. And it’s the type of run that can compound growth at an insane level. It can propel this compounding growth. With an account of just $2,500 we got all the way to $4,000!

But life.

So after withdrawing money last week, the account is now back down to $3,170. That’s still a value gain of 22%. It’s still impressive. But, if you have a goal of $100,000, that withdraw of $1,000 early in your journey can set you back 4-5 years. It seems like a small thing, but compounding makes a massive difference.

Anyways, let’s get into the week:

Gains / Losses

The above chart is the value. You can see the drop as we withdrew $1000. However, the below chart shows that there were “performance” gains. We did 2.5% gains on a week where the was up about 1%.

It was really hard to stay under control this past week. The market has been flying, and I’m trying not to spend a bunch of cash.

But with the RSI of the QQQs still above 70 on the weekly chart and the action in the top of the channel, there just isn’t that much upside.

So, until there’s a bit of a pullback, I’m just going to be very conservative. I mean, there’s no point in taking on more risk. Especially when we’re making 2% gains on the week without a heavy amount of risk.

Trades

I didn’t do very much at all the past couple weeks because the market has been flying, and I have been travelling to Ireland as .

In fact, last week I only made 5 trades:

1. I sold a $5-strike put. The expiry is June 18th, and I was paid $15. This stock has been dropping since I sold it, but this is a stock I’d be happy to own at that price anyways.

2. I also sold a $7.5 strike covered call for NIO as I have an active LEAPS position. I was paid $8. The expiry is June 18.

3. I sold a $5-strike put with a June 18 expiry. I was paid $15. I think this stock has the potential to go to $10 very soon. So I would have liked to buy the stock. But with the market up, I don’t want to get caught up in a pullback.

4. I sold a $14-strike put with a June 18 expiry. I was paid $30. I like SOFI, and would be happy to own it at $14.

5. I sold 10 shares of I feel like I was so patient with this stock, and I’m happy with the small profit I made. I’m holding onto the other 10 shares.

In total, I earned $63 in total (after paid commissions) on options sales this week.

Plan for The Week?

I have $1,230 in cash, and $8,500 in buying power.

So the plan is the same as it has been the past couple weeks as the market has rallied: be patient.

I’m going to continue to sell puts on stocks I like that are a bit beaten down, and I’m going to continue building my cash position. I think it will take a big pullback for me to start deploying cash.

Updates?

I’m back at home in Portugal, so I should be able to post a little more often here. My goal was always 2 posts a week.

It can be a lot of fun. You just start rolling, pick up momentum, and keep going faster and faster. The faster you go, the more fun it becomes. The speed gets more and more intense. But at a certain point, you get the speed wobbles. It’s just not a controlled speed anymore. And if you can’t control that, you crash hard.

The market is like skateboarding downhill.

The market needs to occasionally slow itself down so that it doesn’t reach this level of speed that’s dangerous. And right now, it feels like the market is rolling with no brakes.

Since the bottom of the “Iran correction” on the index March 31st, the market has sped along from $555 to $711 in just 6 weeks. That’s a gain of about 28% in just 6 weeks.

To be clear, a 28% gain in a year is a GREAT year. So 28% in a couple weeks is scary.

All the indicators show that we’re running too hot.

• The daily RSI is a wild +82.

• The top trendline is one that has held for over 4 years

• There’s not a lot of volume

But, the market is parabolic, because at these all-time highs, there is no resistance above.

In history, when the market hits RSI levels above 80, there usually isn’t much upside. And while it might not mean that a crash is imminent, it does indicate that the skateboard needs to hit the brakes a little.

What Does That Mean for MyGFs Money?

One of the first articles I wrote on this page was about my cash to equity ratio and how I was going to manage that. You can read it here.

I haven’t been sticking to my rules very well due to the circumstances, but I like to try to be close.

The rule on how much cash I hold is dependant on just on the weekly RSI. The higher the weekly RSI, the higher the amount of cash we hold.

On the weekly RSI we’re at 74.20.

According to my rules, when the weekly RSI goes above 70, I keep 50% cash.

Nearly every time the RSI has gone above 70 the past couple years, there has been a pull back or correction. So we want to have cash to be able to buy that pullback.

As of now, we’re not exactly 50%, but we’re close.

If the market stays up, I’ll trim a little bit more to get to 50%.

Cash vs. Buying Power

I need to be clear on something: hoarding cash doesn’t mean hoarding buying power.

I’m a big believer that the options buying power shouldn’t be wasted. I’ll still be using that buying power to sell options where I think they make sense. In a perfect world, the market flattens out a bit and I just keep collecting premiums. But it’s also not the end of the world if a correction happens and some of the puts I sell end up leading to buys.

I’ll continue to sell puts (albeit in very safe spots) no matter what happens with the market.

We have $18,000 in buying power which means in theory we could sell puts that equal about $150 in strike-prices.

The Past Week’s Trades

I really wanted to see how this week played out, so I didn’t do hardly anything.

The only trades I made were:

1. I trimmed the position Friday down 2 shares down to 4 shares. This has been a great position for us. I probably will hold for a long term now with these last 4 shares and add if it goes back below $40. has a deal with IREN which is basically a call option at $70. So I think there’s still more upside, and it’s worth holding.

2. My 100 shares of got called away at a strike of $5.5. I will probably now sell some TE puts on Monday as I still think there’s opportunity there.

Profit/Loss

The thing about being on a skateboard that’s going downhill is that you don’t want to add more speed to it. You just want to coast. If I started buying more, sure I might have had even bigger gains. But I could also hit that speed wobble and lose everything.

I mean, if you’re making 7% gains each week, there’s no need to be greedy.

Biggest Winners/Losers

Both and $sftby have been awesome for us this past week. But the other sneaky winners this week were and . I have an average on MVST of $1.90 and it’s at $2.12 now. I have an average of $17.66 on WYFI and it’s now at $21.60. I’m going to write a post about the WYFI move this week, because it has been textbook trading.

continues to be a big loser for me. It’s a hard one, because I should have allowed myself to stop out of that position. This week it rejected the current level as well. There could be more downside, but at the same time, it’s in the buying zone from 2024, so I feel like this is the most likely turnaround point.

The Week to Come

As I mentioned, I’m likely to start doing some trimming this week.

I might close my position which is still up on my average, but down lately. I’m also considering closing the position which is finally green to me. My position is a bit oversized as well at 30 shares. So I might close 10 of those shares. Closing those will get us close to 50% cash.

After that, there are a lot of puts I’d like to sell.

I’ll be looking at selling puts on , , , and maybe and .

We’ll see how that goes.

For the past 2 months I was holding the massive position and it meant that I really didn’t do much.

I think that’s going to change now.

An Update - Profit / Loss

Admittedly, the whole market is flying. But we’re up 8% this week which is crazy.

Last week there was a point where we hit $4,000 for the first time ever before dropping. This week we’re up to $4,120 which is awesome, especially considering I haven’t really done too much.

What Happened with the HIMS Position?

The position had a covered call at $25 on May 1st. So when the price ran well above that, I let the position get called away.

I did have a thought about maybe rolling the call, but realized that it was silly. Holding all those shares meant I had very little flexibility and no cash. It also meant that if the price dropped (let’s say to $20) I’d still be holding the shares with an average of $24.

So instead, on Friday I sold a $20-strike put for May 15th. I earned $22.

If the price drops below $20 now, I’ll have a better entry price than I had at $24. If it doesn’t, I’ll keep collecting premiums.

New Trades?

I actually wanted to get more aggressive than I was this week.

But I have been in Australia as you can see on my personal substack and the market hasn’t really presented me anything that’s made me jump.

However, I have made a couple plays:

• The aforementioned put sale = $22 collected

• I sold a call at $6.5 for May 15 = $11 collected

• I sold a covered call for $5.5 for May 8 = $15 collected

• I sold a put for $4 for May 15 = $12 collected

So essentially, we made $60 selling options this week.

Cash and Buying Power

We have over $1,000 in cash right now and $15,000 in buying power.

As much as I’d like to deploy some of that, I am going to wait to see what happens over the week. I feel like the market is a bit too hot considering the global affairs, so I don’t think it hurts to take it easy. Especially when you’re already gaining 8% a week.

That said, with earnings season in full swing I’ll likely be looking to sell some puts on anything that gets hit hard on their post-earnings calls. I really like the strategy of waiting to see what stock drops 10% on earnings and then selling puts 10% below that on the volatility. It’s been a successful strategy for me in the past.

Biggest Winners and Losers?

Right now, my biggest winners have been and we’re up significantly on both those positions. And I feel like I could probably trim each of them right now as well. is also starting to show some life!

On the other side, is really testing my patience. But whenever I look at the technical, it looks like it should rebound. In fact, I’d like to buy more. But my cost basis is already too high. is showing some life of coming back to me. But, it’s still down a bunch for me.

Week to Come?

As mentioned, I’m going to sit on my hands unless there’s a couple things that get hit in the earnings crunch.

The market is way too hot. I mean look at this:

For reference, that upper end of the channel has held since July 2023. There’s just not a massive amount to be gained here, I don’t think. I’d like to see the to come down to about $650 again before I start getting aggressive again.

So, until that happens, look for me to just keep playing the put sale game.

Now, obviously that’s not 100% trough trading. We did add about $800 to the account since January when we started this. But, I’m still extremely proud of how this is going so far.

As you can see from the above, it has definitely not been a straight line. There have been 2 big drawn downs. The biggest draw down was when crashed. I have since not only recovered that drop, but gained a bunch from covered calls on HIMS which is a big part of the jump in the account size.

Let’s get into this week.

Profit / Loss for the Week

After the +35% gain last week, I didn’t want to do much this week. I think the market is too hot.

But, even just by mostly chilling we were up over 2% this week, far outpacing the index. In $ terms, we were up over $100.

Trades of the Week

As I mentioned, I didn’t do a whole lot this week, but I did at least trim a couple positions that I felt were getting a bit too crazy.

• I trimmed my $sftby position down in half. I sold 10 shares for $17.58/share.

• I also trimmed on Thursday. I sold 4 shares for $53.81

I also did a little bit of options selling:

• I sold a May 15 covered call at a $2.5 strike for $12

• I sold a May 01 covered call at a $6.5 strike for $11

• I sold a May 01 covered call at a $5.5 strike for $25

Friday I had a bunch of puts and calls expire leaving a lot of buying power. I actually have over $12,000 in options buying power to work with now if the market comes down to earth a bit.

Overall this week, I made $47 in options sales. That’s over 1% of the portfolio value. Honestly, if I can do 1% of the portfolio value selling options every week, that’s really all I need to do.

The Winners and Losers

It’s like every single week that I say that is my big loser of the week. I’m down about 50% on my position. I’m about to cut and run. But at the same time, in the back of my head, I keep thinking: this is simply undervalued. A lot of the price drop seems to be from the combination of fact that the founders are cashing out a bit after the IPO and the general software drop. I may jump out of this soon. But for now, I feel the need to hang on a bit longer.

The big winners this week were both $sftby and they both grew so wildly that I decided to trim them. Now that they’re trimmed, I’ve also moved the stop losses up on each of them, and will not be trimming anymore.

Next Week

Look at the chart below:

You can see how quick the move up has been. I’m not really content that this is a “real” breakout. I would love to see a retest.

The past resistance on the QQQ was about $640. You can see there is also a volume shelf at about $630. So I would like to see the market come down back to at least that $640 range and test the old resistance (turned support).

I’m also scared by the lack of volume on this rally. Look at the volume on the bottom. It’s significantly down. A rally without volume isn’t really one you can trust.

To be honest, I’m a little bit tempted to buy some VIX or even a QQQ put. If for now other reason than to have a hedge.

This week, I might just take the whole week off unless there’s a crash.

The only thing I’m really watching is the position. My $25-strike covered call is way ITM, so at some point this week I need to decide if I was to try to roll it out a bit longer, of if I’m happy to let go of the position. I’m leaning to the later, but at the same time there’s an earnings call on May 11th, so it might be worth rolling it past that day and seeing if I can grab some more premiums. Especially if I can roll it up to $26 or $27 for free.

Basically, it felt like Uber was about to breakout of a long downtrend on the daily chart. Moreover, it felt like there was a ton of downside support on both the weekly and daily chart. In that article, I mentioned that my ideal set up would be to wait for a breakout of the down trend, and then a retest. That happened today.

Unfortunately, since I have the very large position on MgfsM I don’t really want to take this trade here. So, I took it on our joint savings account over at .

The set up is cool. And hopefully it works.

Let’s start with the weekly chart.

To be honest, UBER looked like a buy for a while. It’s sitting right on the old lower trendline, and it’s just about the 200 week ema. Those traditionally very heavy bits of support. Moreover, as we broke out, we’re also now above the point of control (POC) which is also good support.

On the weekly chart:

The breakout looks clean. But there are some points of concern. First of all, we’re kind of stuck between all the moving averages. The 200 day ema is above which is heavy resistance, as is that layer of volume above the volume gap.

I’m also slightly scared about earnings in a couple weeks.

Still, I think it’s worth a small try.

The trade?

I bought 2 shares of UBER at $74.75. I’ll buy more if the price gets down to about $71 where the lower trendline is.

I’ve set a really safe stop loss at $65 which is just below the 200 week ema.

My take profit point is $98. My way of trading these swings is to close 50% of the position at the take profit point. I would also move the stop loss up to about $80. Then, I’ll be letting that other 50% ride and even potentially look to buy more if the opportunity arises.

However, when your gains on a week are over 30%, you don’t care too much that you were limited.

This week, the stock market flew. I mean, it went crazy.

The QQQ index which I follow the most was up nearly 7% on the week. Moreover, it hit all time highs. For my girlfriend’s money, the big jump was largely due to the massive move that went 44% in one week!

Anyways, let’s get into the week.

Trades of the Week

Honestly, I didn’t do much this week. I’m still weighed down by my position and didn’t want to dive any more into margin loans.

• Sold a call for $25-strike (May01) for $23. In hindsight, this is the one I wish I would have taken back. Literally the next day it flew. But, it is what it is.

• Sold a put for a $29-strike (May01) for $37.

• Sold a put for a a $13-strike (May01) for $14.

• I rolled my $5-strike covered call to a $5.5-strike expiring on April 24. It cost me $7.

• Thursday I bought back the put for $10.

• I sold a $4.5-strike (Apr24) put for $8.

• I sold a $4-strike (May01) put for $7.

• I had 3 options expire: (put), (call), and (put).

In total this week I earned $72 in options sales

Wins and Losses of the Week

The biggest win of the week was obviously . A 40% jump in the week is crazy. It’s just a shame it was limited on my end. But if I’m being honest, I really want out of the HIMS position to give myself some more flexibility.

The other big winner was which I’m going to talk about in this week’s “trade of the week”. This position was up 26% this week.

For the biggest losers, can I claim as well? I’d be up and extra $350 if I didn’t cover it.

The biggest loser this week was . Figma is the one I’m most worried about. Basically every time Anthropic announces something new, it drops. I can’t gain a foothold. I’m almost to the point where I’m going to set a tight stop loss and move on.

Portfolio Update

I thought it was a good time to start doing a portfolio update each week so you can actually see the open positions I have.

Note that these are only equity positions. Options sales are tracked separately. The size is the amount of shares. The average is my average price I paid per share. The stop loss is where a sale of the position will be triggered. Take profit is where I’ll reduce the position size in half. And “buy more” is where I’ll consider adding more shares.

The Coming Week - Asking for Red?

If I’m being honest, the market has moved too much the past couple weeks. I really don’t feel comfortable buying anything or making too many moves. I’ll likely just take it really easy unless we start to see some down days.

The is currently at $648. I’d like to see it come back down to about $630 before I will start looking to add positions.

So honestly, it’s going to be a fairly quiet week for me.

My dream week?

1. Monday and Tuesday are down.

2. Wednesday we start to see a bounce off of $630 confirming support.

3. Thursday and Friday green.

If that happens, I’ll feel more confident in that this is the new established range. If you look at the photo below, this is basically the range we’ve been trading in since 2023. Any time we’ve gone below the middle of the channel, has been full of buying opportunities. Above the dotted line, it’s been a good time to just let the positions ride and see what happens. As we’re back in the top half of the channel, it’s time to be patient again.

I mean, how could we be in an AI bubble if everyone is talking about it? Isn’t the whole point of a bubble is that it quietly builds and then bursts? I also argued that we couldn’t possibly be in a bubble when the largest company in the world - one that’s fully entrenched in AI - is only trading at about a 20 forward p/e.

This week, however, scared me.

The stock market went from being scared of war, oil prices, and inflation to a rocket ship. We have had 11 straight green days and have gone from a correction to all-time highs in just 2 weeks. We went from a RSI of oversold to overbought in less than 3 weeks.

That’s Not What Scares Me

Funny enough, that’s not what scares me. We’re 4 months into 2026 and the is only up about 2%. So I don’t think we’re running too hot. I just think we ran back to reality.

The thing that scares me is

is a company that launched as a sustainable shoe company. But this week they announced that they are selling their shoe brand and re-branding as an AI company.

What?!

Now to be honest, that in itself doesn’t scare me. What scares me is the reaction from retail traders and wall street.

Allbirds was trading at about $2.50 when the announcement was made. It ran all the way to $25 before coming down to earth a bit. It’s now trading at $17. That’s a +500% move.

How does that make sense?

Dot Com Bubble

During the runup of the Dot Com Bubble there was a lot of this going on. But, to be honest, a lot of that stuff made more sense than this.

There were loads of companies in the 90s that were trying to move to become “internet companies”. All sorts of companies were adding “.com” to the end of their brands.

But at least for the most part they had a purpose. They believed they were moving into the future by moving online. And though many did it terribly, they weren’t wrong. And it wasn’t their fault that investors pilled money into it.

In the late 90s, almost any company that re-invented themselves as a “.com” would immediately see a massive stock boost.

So yeah, that’s what scares me.

What does Allbirds know about AI? And why do they deserve a MASSIVE jump in market cap simply based on the fact that they’re going AI? Would see a jump in stock price if it announced a move to AI. I mean, why wouldn’t they use their stores as data centres, right?

So, How Do We Play This?

The thing about both the dot com bubble and the market in general is that it can stay irrational for a really long time.

I remember hearing the story about a massively successful hedge fund manager who found 5 or 6 companies he was sure would fail during the dot.com bubble. He shorted them all. And even though all of these companies eventually went bankrupt, he had to close his shorts at massive losses, because they ran so high before crashing.

So, no, you should short this market. Absolutely not.

But, maybe it’s time to be a bit more cautious about how much cash you have on hand.

Right now, on My Girlfriend’s Money, I have $0 in cash. But I do have a number of positions closing in the next week or two. When they close, I do think it’s time to start being a bit more cautious in being “over-extended”.

This week has been the biggest win in MGFsMoney history with a massive gain. It would be a shame to see that all come crashing down.

This week, it’s that is looking spicy.

If you haven’t spent time in the west of the US you might not know about Dutch Bros. It’s a coffee company focusing primarily on drive-through coffee. It’s cool, it fun, and over the past 10 years it’s grown like crazy.

When I’m looking at trades to enter, I always start with the weekly chart. You’ll find that chart below.

The Trade Set Up

The main theory of this trade is that we’re in a falling wedge and those tend to break to the upside. But I’ll get to the bull case later.

To any trade, there are 2 sides: the bull and the bear.

The bull trade sets up 2 different ways.

1. You can wait and open a trade if the price comes back down to the lower trendline, around $47. I’d set a stop loss around $44. Hopefully it bounces. You can trim your position at $55. If it breaks out of the top, you hold.

2. If this moves to break the topside you can either open a trade right away or wait for confirmation with a retest of the upper trendline. If you don’t wait for confirmation, set a stop loss around $55. Personally, I like to wait for confirmation on a re-test, but I have missed some big moves as a result by doing that.

The bear trade is if the lower trendline breaks down. There’s a bunch of support there, but if support breaks down this could drop to around $40 before basing again.

The short trade is simple, if the 200 week ema breaks down, open a short position with a target of $40. Personally, I think there’s not enough reward in this downside trade, so I wouldn’t take it.

The Bull Case

For me, there’s lots to like when it comes to the bull case of this trade. keeps posting lower lows creating that upper trendline. These declining trendlines tend to break bullish. We have also broken above the POC which generally acts as a nice support. The current price is $55.5 and there’s a lot of volume support from $55 down to $53.

The other thing is the 200 week moving average. It has been a very good support for the past month, and it looks like it’s a solid place to buy if possible.

Another thing to look at is the volume over the past couple weeks. It has been declining along with the price which is indicating that the sellers are exhausting.

If you’re just investing, it might be a good time already to start DCA’ing into a position.

The Bear Case

Looking at the bear case, there are a couple things of concern. First of all, coffee prices have been low of late. In this industry, the price action follows coffee prices to a degree. So it’s not great to see a declining stock price along side declining coffee prices.

The other concern is the huge volume gap between $50 and about $35. This gap is mostly caused by the huge green candle back in November 2024. If the 200 week average breaks down, we could see a drop down to $35-40. And honestly, if that happens, I’ll be a bigtime buyer.

The final thought it the volume. Yes, there’s been a dying off of the volume over the past weeks. But ideally you’d like to see a nice green volume candle on any breakout to trust it. There was nice green volume this week, but I’d like to see that volume extend on a breakout before diving in.

Should You Take This Trade?

I think it depends on if you’re a trader or an investor. As an investor, I’d already be DCA’ing into a position since last week. When it held the 200 week EMA that was a pretty good sign. Now, with the coiling of price action, it seems due for a big move. As an investor, you don’t want to miss a big move because you’re trying to time to move perfectly.

If you’re a trader, I’d wait. Either trade the bottom of this wedge if it goes back down, or the breakout on the top.

In theory, this wedge could hold for a couple months still. So there’s no rush to make a trade. Be patient and wait.

We beat the S&P500 by a bit more than that too, as the S&P was up 3.68%.

All of this was done despite the fact that which is a huge part of the portfolio was totally flat. It was also done totally missing a couple big trades. I talked about a potential trade opportunity for CRWV last week and decided against trading it. Then the price went from $75 to $100.

Anyways, it happens. You can’t take every trade.

This Week’s Trades

Same as the past few weeks, I’m pretty hamstrung until I let go of this position. It’s taking so much of our capital that I don’t have a lot of flexibility

That said, I did have lots of options buying power to play with this week. I just chose not to use it because the premiums were pretty sad with the market so green.

• Sold a $3.5 strike for April 17th. Received $7.

• Sold an $2.5 strike for April 17th. Received $7.

• Friday, I rolled my $6 covered call for a April 24, $6.5 call. I didn’t want to lose that position. It cost me $9.

• Sold a covered call for my 100 shares at a $5 strike for April 17. I received $10.

So in total the options sales earned me $15. It’s not much, but if I can earn a little with options each week, I’m happy. Especially if I can do so without owning stock.

Biggest Winners

My position has been awesome for us. I wrote about the goal of the trade a while ago. The goal of the trade was just to sell synthetic covered calls. But the position has jumped a lot too. The LEAPS I sold is up a whopping 50%. That said, I might have maxed out the value on this position if the covered call gets triggered in 2 weeks.

Finally had a good week. It’s still a red position, but it’s only down $11. It had a +30% week.

I also had a really nice win on the put sale. The stock is down 3% for the week, but it’s up 10% from when I sold the put and it expired Friday at a good profit. I like RUN for put sales, I’ll get back in for some more if it comes down a bit.

Biggest Losers

I’ll get into this in the next section, but is one that I really need to make a decision on. All of software has been taking a beating, but FIG is way oversold in my opinion. So do I drop the stock? Or hope it turns around? Or… do I buy more. My FIG position is down like 50%.

The other one I need to make a decision on at some point is It’s a company I like, but nuclear energy stocks just haven’t been popular this year. I thought I bought at a good time $15, but it’s down under $10 now and showing no signs of stopping. Like FIG I don’t know if I should add a stop loss, or buy more.

Another loser this week was . However, I have no intention of dropping ZETA. I like the stock, and I think this will fly as soon as the software sentiment turns around. My average is $17.

Next Week? Software?

There’s a really funny narrative going on right now in the stock market, and to be honest they’re conflicting.

The thought is that software is being killed by AI. Basically, any software product can be achieved via AI. It can edit photos and make PDFs (ADBE). It can do accounting. It can build staffing schedules. It can audit. So therefore, software will die.

However, basically all software companies are showing increased profits and margins (probably enhanced by AI efficiency).

Yet, they crumble.

Every time Anthropic comes out with a new feature, all of software crashes.

But now the counter-narrative is that there’s an AI bubble. That the AI companies are over-priced. Though if software was really being crushed by AI, then AI should actually be undervalued and companies like should be trading at P/Es of 30 and 40 instead of 20.

Both can’t be true. So at this point you have to assume that one of these sectors is undervalued. Either AI is so bullish that it’s going to kill off an entire sector and therefore it’s undervalued, or software is not really dying, and it is undervalued.

So the choice is: AI or Software?

My “green” watch list of companies that I believe are undervalued are almost all software companies. I have and all there waiting for buys. The only problem is, I have no idea how long market sentiment will stay this low for software.

So this week, I probably won’t get into software. But I may start selling a put or two.

My Ideal Week?

Funny enough, these green weeks for the market at a bit hard for me to trade. I like to sell options, and the premiums are so weak, that I just haven’t been doing that.

Ideally, I’d like to see HIMS make a bit of a move this week. $19 seems to be a battleground. To me, with the chart below I see 3 things:

1. There a declining volume which could indicate that the battle is winding down and a bigger move will happen this week - hopefully to the upside.

2. The 20 day EMA is creating resistance. We’ll need a daily break and hold above that before it can really turn bullish.

3. There’s a volume gap between nodes at $19 and $24. So a bull move could be big and happen quickly.

And, honestly, I’d love to see some red days this week. Ideally, I’d like those red days not to be news related, but just consolidation. I would like the opportunity to sell some options this week as we have lots of buying power in the account going to waste, and I don’t feel comfortable selling puts when the market is up 4% in a week.

As for now, that’s it for me! I’m in India at the moment, and then travelling to Beijing and Australia. So expect more trading insight from the road!

From a company perspective, I think this drawdown is overdone. From over $100 down to a low of $68 seems excessive. Most of the negative sentiment is based around the idea that Tesla Robotaxis are going to take over. But in my opinion, companies like Tesla, Waymo, etc., are actually going to need Uber’s platform if they want to succeed.

Moreover, I think that people discount the power of the food delivery business and totally forget about the courier side of things. Uber isn’t a dying company. I think it’s due for a bounce.

Technically, it’s not perfect. But there are some signs that it might turn around. Let’s go to the chart.

The Bull Case - Trendlines

The bullish case for this from a technical standpoint is that were down at the support and maybe about to turn the bearish trendline around.

The lower trendline where UBER is sitting right now dates back to when it had its big breakout in November 2023. In fact, it could be argued that it’s close to the same trendline as the upper trendline was back in 2022-2023 before the breakout.

This lower trendline has touched now 3 times. 2 other times it came close.

As you can see, there’s another trendline lower that dates back to the lows of May 2022. So there’s another level of support 10 points down.

The Bull Case - Breakout?

It could be argued that there’s a bear trendline dating back to October 2025 that this drawdown has followed. A couple weeks ago there was a false breakout - or, you could say the trendline is invalidated.

However, if you believe in that trendline, we’re at a crucial point in deciding if we’re going to break out, or break down.

The Bull Case - Volume Ranges

The below chart shows the recent volume ranges. Nodes are points where there was a heavy amount of trading. They tend to act as support and resistance. They also often act as magnets. Especially the POC which is the white line in the chart. That POC is the price most often traded.

Where there are gaps in the volume, the price tends to pass through those areas quickly. So the bull case here is that if the price can get some positive news and break the trendline and the POC it might run pretty quickly up to where the next node of volume is up at $82.

The Bear Case? - Not at Our Floor

The bearish case for UBER right now is that this is a falling knife and it’s going to break out of the channel it’s currently in and drop at least to the second trendline if not further.

If you look at the below weekly chart, there’s not a lot of volume until about $50.

A move to $50 would break both the trendlines. It would take a really heavy bit of negative sentiment, and I don’t think that case is going to happen. But it is possible.

More likely, I think the price would bottom out at around $60 which is kind of where the lowest trendline is, and also the old resistance from 2021, and the old support from August 2024.

So, Is There a Trade?

Yes, but wait a little bit.

If you’re investing, it might be worth a shot to start DCA’ing now. However, if you’re just looking for a trade I’d wait for something to happen.

I’ll open a trade if:

1. We successfully break out and retest the trendline successfully. In the chart at the bottom, the blue line is where I’d like this stock to go. I wouldn’t open the trade on the breakout, but rather the retest of the trendline. If that happens, I’d set a stop loss under the trendline, somewhere like $68. My targets would be $80 and $90.

2. The other way I’d open a trade is if we break down further. If we get close to $60, I’ll just start DCA’ing a position. My targets would be $70 and $90.

Patience…

Since I’m using this account just as a trading account, I won’t be taking a trade until the set up is complete. However, is on top of my watchlist right now along with (the stock I talked about last week).

Hopefully, I can open a position on one of them soon. And when I do, I’ll share it here.

Ending up flat when the market jumps isn’t great. But it’s the result of me being so heavily tied to my position which dropped for most of the week.

Still, there were some positive moves this week.

Like last week, with so much of my portfolio weighted to HIMS I’m fairly hamstrung. I’m at the point where I’d like to get out of the position so I have more flexibility. But, I did make some moves today.

Sells

• I sold 100 shares of as it triggered my stop loss.

• I closed my position. I’d rather focus on single stocks with this account for now.

Buys

• I was assigned 100 shares of at a price of $5.50/share.

Options

• I sold a covered call on for $0.07/share at a $6-strike. That position is flying and I might have to dump my long position when this expires this weekend.

• I sold a covered call on for $0.17/share at a $25-strike. It expires this coming Friday.

• I decided to buy back a $5.5 put after the stock crashed. It cost me $1.11

• In doing that, I also sold a put for April 10 at a $4 strike for $0.11/share.

• I sold a covered call on the 100 shares I was assigned. It’s an April 10th. I was paid $0.05/share

In total, it wasn’t a great week for options. Basically I lost $71 on various options plays, and was assigned TE at a price way above where we’re at. But we’ll see how we go next week. We did have 3 put sells expire this week which is great.

Biggest Gainers

Man, is flying. I’m up $90 on the long position which is a LEAPS. I’ve also made good money over the past couple weeks selling options on this position. But, my synthetic covered call is at risk this week. So I may have to close this position.

continues to be one of my best equity buys. I bought at $80 which wasn’t the bottom bottom, but close enough to be very happen with a current price of nearly $100.

Biggest Losers

My biggest loser this week was . And to be honest, I’m not mad about it. I think TE is undervalued at these prices by a lot. So the entry isn’t great, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m currently down $118 on the stock + the $111 I decided to bail out on from the short put.

also had a rough week. I have an average of $42.61 and it’s now at $34.81. I have a loss of $78. I think if we hit $30, I’ll look to buy more.

Plan for the Coming Week

I really hate trading this news-driven cycle that we’re in right now with the war in Iran. It means for choppy waters and the structure of the market (which I rely on a lot) means so much less.

From the looks of the news, it looks like this might get messier before it gets resolved. So I think we’re in for another volatile week.

I don’t think there’s much I’ll do. I’m low on options buying power and out of cash. I might just need to play the waiting game this week. As such, I don’t foresee doing all too much.

Also, I’m in India. So I’ll likely be a little bit “detached” from the market. But, at least I have curry!

Sure, at the start it’s going to be very heavily weighted to trading. However, it’s not a “trading blog”. It’s an investment and business blog.

The goal is to follow our joint investment journey throughout the years as we set new financial goals.

Each month, my GF and I are investing $200 into a joint account.

Right now, that account is being invested heavily in the stock market. However, over time we’re going to be looking to deploy some of that money into other business ventures. We’re looking at maybe a rental property in the future. Or, maybe we’ll invest in a business. Or we’ll find another earning strategy.

The new blog will cover all of that over time.

So yes, it’s funny to have 2 different blogs.

However, in my opinion they’re 2 different stories.

1. Taking my girlfriend’s money and using trading strategies to see if I can grow a fixed amount of money.

2. Building wealth slowly over time with small investments - growing into larger investments. Not focused on technical trading, but rather practical investments, and maybe later bigger business ideas.

And personally, that’s my favourite thing too. To be honest, I don’t really care for money. I don’t care to be rich. I don’t want a Lambo. But I absolutely love the “game” of money. I love trying to figure out new ways to grow my account.

In crude terms, I’m a grower, not a show-er. I don’t care to show off. But I love growing things: gardens, businesses, social media, blogs, and - yes - trading accounts.

Trade of The Week

Now, before I get into the trade, I want to add a disclaimer. I didn’t do this trade on . I did this trade on my own personal account. The fact is, this trade is too “big” for the $3,000 cash I have to play with on Mygfsmoney.

But, since this blog is for educational purposes, I thought it was a fun thing to share mid-week anyways.

The Trade Idea

The concept beside this trade is simple: try to earn money off a stock that has a dividend ex-date upcoming for premium and/or dividend.

Ok, so let’s say a company has a dividend ex-date on Monday. A week or two before the ex-date you sell a put with an expiry for the Friday before the ex-date. Your hope is that people don’t want to sell a stock before a dividend ex-date so the price will hold up. If it doesn’t you’ll get dividends as well as the premium.

Your 4 scenarios are this:

1. The stock price stays above your strike price. You keep the premium. Profit.

2. The stock price drops below the strike price. You keep the premium. On the weekend you’re assigned the shares. On Monday you are tagged for the dividend as well. On Monday you sell a covered call at the same strike as the put you sold.

3. If the price goes up, you keep the premium from the put, the call, and the dividend. Profit.

4. If the price drops, you keep the premium from the put, the call, and the dividend. But, you’ll lose whatever value the stock loses that week. But, you keep the stock equity.

**note: a dividend ex-date is the day a company registers which people will receive an upcoming dividend. Anyone who owns shares at market open on that day gets registered for the dividend payment - which will come in the future. You get paid, even if you sell the shares between the ex-date and the actual day they pay out. On trading views, you can see dividend ex-dates on the bottom with the “D”.

How Has my Trade Worked?

Last Monday I sold a $36.5 strike put while the price of the stock was $38.

The premium I received for selling the option was $0.49/share. So, $49.

NVO followed the market down last week and by Friday close the price was $36.

Over the weekend I was assigned 100 shares at $36.5/share.

As soon as the market opened on Monday, I was registered as the owner of 100 shares and will receive a dividend of $0.916/share ($91.60). Right away, I sold a covered call for a premium of $0.30/share at the same strike as I sold the put: $36.5.

So in total I’ve received a total of $170.60 in premiums.

As of now, the stock price of is exactly $36.50/share. If it closes above that, my shares will be assigned to whoever bought my call. My total trade will end up as a profit of $170.60. If it closes below that, I’ll have $170.60 cash, and still hold the 100 shares of NVO.

What’s the Play if the Call Doesn’t Get Assigned?

One of the beauties of this trade is you can play it a number of ways. If you believe in a stock like NVO this could be a great entry point and it could be something you hold long term. If you like the stock, then playing the premiums game means that you entered a stock at a price you liked ($36.50), but managed to gain almost 5% profit off your entry. $170 is like getting nearly 5 shares for free.

In fact, I know people who play these trades exactly with that thought in mind. Friday after close, if their call sale isn’t exercised, they’ll sell 95 shares and keep 5. Those 5 shares were “paid for” by selling options. In a weird way, it’s like they earned 5 free shares.

So, yes, it can be an entry into an equity position.

However, if you’re just playing the options game for premiums, you now have 2 obvious choices.

Your first choice is to continue playing the options game.

Let’s imagine that the stock price closes at $36.45. You can then just keep selling calls slightly higher up until they eventually get called away. So, for the following week, you could maybe sell a $37 call. As of right now, NVO calls for next Friday at $37 are selling for about $0.90/share. That’s another good profit. And, if the stock price runs up to there and you get assigned, you’ll actually make $50 in the stock price growth as well. So you’ll earn an extra $140 on your previous $170. If the stock price stays under $37. You can keep selling calls until they eventually get taken from you.

The risk, of course is that the stock price drops and the price of the stock drop is more than you’re earning from premiums. In which case, you can get yourself into trouble.

The second choice is to cut bait and end the trade.

Again, if you’re playing the game of options, it might not make sense to stay in on this one. Maybe you’re worried NVO is going to drop, or maybe you just want more cash. In this case, it’s totally fine to wait until close on Friday and then sell the shares after hours.

Of course, you’ll take the slight hit for the share price difference.

For example, if the share price is $36 at close, you’ll be trading the equity at a $50 loss. So you’re profit from the trade will go from $170 to $120.

What Am I Doing?

As of now, it looks like my shares are probably going to be called away.

However, if they don’t I’ll probably keep playing the options selling game. However, I’ll keep selling at the exact same strike price as the put I initially sold ($36.5). I don’t like to get too greedy.

Can This Be Used on Other Stocks?

Yes, of course.

However, I’d highly encourage you to think about the following things.

1. Stock prices usually drop by the same amount as the dividend. If a stock has a $1 dividend, the stock price usually drops by $1 that day as well. So this can’t be a pure dividend play. It has to be a stock you think is undervalued and a good buy.

2. Selling puts carries a lot of weight. Imagine, for example, you sell a put on NVO and then there’s an announcement that they’ve committed a crime. The stock price can drop by 20% overnight and you’re now down $600+. So this should only really be played with companies you trust.

Anyways, I hope that was helpful. It’s a play that I’ve done a number of times with companies that have decent dividends like and it doesn’t always work perfectly, but in my 5-6 times making this trade, I’ve always been at least a little profitable by the time I close it down.

And, it’s understandable.

There is absolutely no clarity on the conflict in Iran. The US seems to have gone in without a plan, and it has lead to total uncertainty in the global markets. We’ve left a stock market which was based on valuations, market structure, fundamentals, etc., and have moved to one that’s almost entirely based on news.

When the war started I heard a lot of twitter talking heads screaming “war is bullish!”. Well, it can be. But not when it’s done in a way that disrupts the global economy. And not when being led by someone who is just constantly making random, contradictory statements.

Last week I shared the below graph when the was hanging out around $600. I shared my prediction with the blue line. So far, it’s following as I predicted.

I do think that now that we’ve lost the 200 day moving average, we’ll eventually move all the way down to about $540. That would be a correction of about 16% from our all-time-high.

I do not think we’re going to go into a full on bear market. The earnings reports coming out of companies are still going strong. I imaging that once we have more clarity on the war situation, the market will recover and begin to move up. But, at this point, who knows.

The Week That Was - Yikes

My girlfriend’s money is so heavily invested in that it’s moving almost completely based on the stock. So last week we had a small downdraw, but this week we had a big downdraw. We’re still up on the month, but only 8%, and we’re in a pretty vicarious position.

It’s ugly. But again, most of that was due to crashing. And if I’m being honest, I expected HIMS to come down. There’s a gap to fill below. And as long as the premiums keep being so good on hims, I’m happy to keep selling covered calls and earning off the shares we own.

Trades of the Week

I was really busy on Monday. I’m trying to not “over-trade” on this account. Afterwards, I was pretty chill.

1. I sold my position. I didn’t like the news of the former co-founder getting arrested. I dumped the position. It ended in a small loss, but nothing major.

2. With the money from selling SMCI I bought 3 shares of at $36.70. Not only do I believe this is a good buy, but there’s a dividend ex-date on Monday which will bring about $0.90/share in cash.

   1. My targets on NVO are $42 and $55

3. I sold a $25-strike covered call on for $28. It expired Friday.

4. I sold a $2-strike call Monday for $6 - expiring April 17

5. I sold a $2.5-strike call for $7 - it expires April 10

6. I sold a $2-strike put for $7 - it expires April 02

7. I sold a $6-strike call for $5 - it expired.

8. I sold a $4.5-strike put for $8 - it expired April 02

9. I sold 2x $5.5 puts for $32 total - they expire April 02

10. I sold a $11 put for $15 - it expires April 02

11. I sold a $9.5 put for $10 - it expires April 10

12. I closed my position. It broke past my stop loss. I’m glad I closed. I sold at $3. It’s not around $2/share. I may buy back in around $1.5 if it gets there.

The Week to Come

As you can see, I sold A LOT of puts last week. And the way it works with IBKR (my broker) is this.

Let’s say you have $3,000. The maximum loan it will give you is $15,000.

So it will let you sell options to the level of which if you were to forced to buy all the options, you’d have to pay $15,000 to own the stocks. You have “buying power” which directly reflects that. So, though you have $3,000 in cash and equity. You actually still have $15,000 in buying power.

For example, if I sell a put at $11. It assumes that you’ll have to pay $11 for the 100 shares in a contract. So that 1 put will wipe out $1,100 in buying power.

Now, it’s not an exact science. IBKR will remove less buying power if a position is deemed less risky. And it will remove more buying power if a position is deemed more risky.

So since the market dropped so much since I sold these puts, my buying power is drying up.

I really am kind of “hand-tied” this week. Unless the market bounces, I won’t be able to do much.

So far, none of the puts I sold are in the money. However, with the market dropping, I might be forced to buy some equity next week.

Therefore, this week, I’m basically in “wait and see” mode.

Falling Knife

There are 3 or 4 stocks on the market right now that I’d like to buy. and look like good buys right now.

However, you don’t want to try to catch a falling knife. And right now it feels like the whole market is a falling knife and the structure of the market isn’t following anything except for the news.

Therefore, the most prudent thing to do is to wait until the market starts following the conditions, rather than the news.

Sometimes, the best trade to do is nothing at all.

And, that’s what I’ll be doing this coming week.

Let’s see if it works out.

However, it seems to have finally found support. In fact, interestingly enough it has found support exactly at the post-IPO resistance which was about $65.

Now, there's no guarantee this will break to the upside. But, support and resistance works like glass. The more you hit it, the more likely it is to break. It really does feel like CRWV is about to break the glass. Moreover, the pattern that it’s in could be seen as a falling wedge, which break to the upside more often than not.

I’m not 100% on this because I don’t have a lot of cash to deploy in my girlfriend’s account, but I'm likely about to make an entry soon. And I'll make an entry if either one of two things happen:

1. We go back down to the $75 level where I'll start a DCA position with a stop loss down at about $60.

2. If we break the upper trendline. Once we break it I'll deploy 50% of my position. I'll deploy 25% more if we retest the trendline. I'll deploy the last of the 25% if the retest is successful. Again, I’ll have a stop loss around $60.

My max position size will be 4 shares (I know, that’s not a lot, but we ain’t rich!).

My Take profit targets are:
1. $110 - I'll take 25%
2. $ 130 - I'll take 50% of the initial position.
3. I'll let the last 25% ride as a long term investment.

I’ll update things if/when this trade happens. But I thought I’d let you all in on my thought process.

First of all, the Co-Founder of was arrested for smuggling NVDA chips into China. That dropped the price of the shares about 12pts. The whole market did a header on Thursday and Friday as well as the combination of options expiries and this mess of a war in Iran finally seemed to snap something.

Over all, one of the worst weeks investing I’ve ever had here with my girlfriend’s money. We’re down 8% this week!

Mind you, month-to-date we’re still up over 20%. So we have to take it in stride.

Trades this Week?

I’m in Bolivia, as I mentioned, so I really didn’t do too much this week. But I did make a few plays.

I sold the following options:

• $6.5 call (Mar20) for $7

• $2.5 call (mar20) for $4

• $8 put (Apr02) for $10

• $2 put (mar20) for $10

I bought the following shares:

• my option was exercised. So I bought 100 shares at $2 each.

• I bought 15 more shares of PGY at $10.96. It was done with dual purpose. To bring my average down, but also I added a stop loss at about $9.5. So, I’m trying to make an exit strategy from the position.

• Same story as above. I bought 2 shares at $58.65, but added a stop loss.

I had a bunch of options expire meaning that I “realized” a bunch of profit on option sales. Expired calls I sold include, NIO, RR, and HIMS. Expired puts I wrote include RR, BBAI, and EOSE. I’ll likely look to sell some more options on Monday.

My Portfolio - Updates

I’m not going to update my entire portfolio this week, but I am going to mention 3 or 4 stocks that affected the portfolio a lot.

HIMS

My adventure with continues. And honestly, I’m not even mad about it. The equity position is down $249 in total right now, but I’ve made around that much just selling calls on the position. This is the biggest culprit in the 8% drop. So, it looks less bad than it is.

This coming week, I’ll look to write another covered call, and keep profiting (I hope).

SMCI

I was building a position out of so I’m glad this happened before I got too far ahead of myself. Since I only have 3 shares so far, I’m only down $31 on this position. On Monday, I’ll likely close this position down. I don’t like owning companies that have clouds hanging over their heads.

SFTBY

I’m starting to doubt my conviction on Softbank. I have an average of $14.32 and 20 shares. The price is now $10.83. I think the biggest cause for the drop is the fear of OpenAi being beaten by the likes of Anthropic, Google, and Perplexity lately - SFTBY is heavily invested in OpenAI.

And, honestly, if you were to relate this to the dot com bubble, it makes sense to be a bit scared. We used to have Yahoo, Hotmail, Google, Broadcast, etc. And only a few even remotely survived. Is OpenAi going to be able to hold up to the competition? Or crumble?

That said, all banks have been smoked this month. So I’m actually thinking of moving my SMCI position into SFTBY. I still like this play long term.

The Week Ahead?

I’ve had a good 2 weeks selling options. With the market dipping, I’ll again try to take advantage of that. I have $7,000 worth of options buying power, meaning I can sell options worth about $7,000 in potential equity. For example, if I want to sell a strike of $7, I can probably sell 10 contracts. $7x100 shares/contract = 700 shares = $7,000.

I have some similar targets as last week, based on the premium prices.

1. has been my favourite options play since the stock crashed a couple weeks ago. The premiums have been great, and I’m also very happy to own it at the strike prices I’m selling.

   1. April 02, $4.5 strikes are selling for $0.12/share so I’ll probably sell 2 of those contracts for $24.

   2. About $6000 buying power left

2. is a company I like and I think might be looking to drop a bit before bouncing back. The stock has been moving well, but Friday there was some serious profit taking and a drop of 10%. I’d also like to own TE, but maybe not here at $6.60

   1. April 02, $5.5 strikes are selling for $0.10/share. So I’ll probably also sell 1 or 2 of those.

3. is a small company I’ve been looking to buy shares in. It’s at about $2.20 a share. I’m going to sell $2 puts as a potential entry point

   1. April 17, $2 strikes are writing for about $0.20/share. I’ll probably just sell 1 of those. If the price drops more, I’ll sell more as the month goes on.

4. . I try not to get sentimental about stocks, but we’re nearing the 1 year anniversary of my favourite trade of 2025 with my personal account. In March of 2025, I sold a massive amount of $6-strike puts on RUN. They got exercised. Then just 2 weeks later I sold them at $9/share. In June, I bought a bunch of RUN at $7, then sold it a couple months later at around $12. Those were some of my biggest trades of the year. So now, with the price back at $12, I’m wondering if I can play this again.

   1. April 02, $10 strikes are writing for about $0.15/share.

   2. April 17, $9 strikes are writing for about $0.12.share.

   3. May 01, $8 strikes are writing for about $0.22/share.

   4. I’ll probably sell all 3 of those.

I also have a bunch of stocks that I’ll be selling covered calls on.

1. needs a covered call at about $25. It looks like I should get about $27 for a March 27 expiry.

2. My new position will eventually get a call. But with the stock down so much, it doesn’t make sense to cover until big green day. Right now, I can only get about $6 for a $2-stike call.

3. will get a covered call at $2.5. Probably April 02, for $6.

4. My LEAPS call will also get a synthetic cover once there’s a bit of a green day. I’d like to get about $5 for a $6.5 strike.

Stocks that I’m Looking to Buy This Week?

The QQQ index and the SPY both lost their 200 day moving average on Friday. That’s really not bullish at all. In fact, it’s usually a good signal that we’re going to have more downside on the way.

And, there’s some scary stuff in the chart, if I’m being honest. You can see my in depth chart and analysis here.

The sum of the analysis is that I’m a bit scared.

We’ve lost the 200 day moving average. We are at the neckline of a bearish “double top” pattern. We don’t have a lot of volume to the downside, and the next real support could be as low as $540.

A drop from our all-time-high on the from $640 to $540 is about 15%. For me, that feels like a really nice correction.

So despite the fact that there are lots of stocks I’d be looking to buy some more of this coming week - ORCL, ADBE, MDB, GRAB, and RDDT all look like they’re in great spots - I’m waiting to see if we can hold this support or if we’re going to dive some more.

This week, therefore, will be a bit of a wait and see.

So, we will wait and see, and I’ll check in again next week!
